Bizarre India's Rat Temple

=====================================================================================

I have just been to this temple recently. And being from India a land full of mysticism, mythology and bizarre yet true wisdom still did not prepare me for what I witnessed here. 'Rats' the disgusting rodents hated, feared, yucked-n-yuuueed everywhere in the world are worshiped here and are allowed to run wild, it's such a pity that I did not have any good camera with me to take snaps but I found a video on youtube about this temple, have a look for yourself:

Police finds a new way to make money - abducting merchants

Rahul Tripathi TNN

Well, it's no secret that corrupt, sleazy, grubby, filthy and dirty cops are a substantial minority (or maybe majority ) in all police departments around the globe (without exceptions).
For India, Indian cops coma bureaucrats take care to ensure that India always remains the leader in this category. That cops are dirty is taken for granted here, that individual cops are going to outdo themselves by sinking lower and lower is also taken for granted, what is of interest to the general public instead is to know 'what's it this time'.

In fact, if an accurate survey be somehow taken of the amount of corruption in police departments around the world, the Indian Police Force or at least the Mumbai Police Force probably will top the list, you can also rest assured that there will be daylight between our police and the runners up.

This time of the year, in June it's feverish activity for the cops (Indian cops have been observed to vary the nature of their misdeeds according to what time of the year it is) For some strange reason, cops do most of their raping and molesting of women during this time of the year when the Indian Monsoon's kick in. The reprieve from the opressive Indian Summers is followed by a string of new cop crimes.

This new incident seems a bit strange in light of the seasonal tendencies of Mumbai police, but hey we are talking of the Indian police, which has been known to spring surprisingly new and filthy misdeeds on the public
Excerpt:

New Delhi: Two Delhi policemen allegedly abducted three businessmen from Rohtak, brought them to the capital and demanded a ransom for their release. The two cops are absconding after a police party from Rohtak conducted a rescue raid early Sunday morning and arrested a couple of their associates.
Head constable Dushyant (40) and constable Parminder (35), serving as “special staff’’ of West district police, allegedly masterminded the kidnapping along with two locals from Madipur in west Delhi. The businessman—Rajesh Agarwal (35), Pankaj Kumar (30) and Avinash Chaudhary (32)—were abducted from Rohtak on Saturday and brought to Delhi.
That is of course not all, the three were ruthlessly beaten up and tortured as well ...

Woodstock Villa - a high quality movie

Well as with almost all humans, I crave going to the movies every once in a while and especially so when I am totally bored and don't have anything to do, even something which is very boring by itself but at least keep me busy. Today, was one of those days! And after browsing through the section on where which movies are playing in the papers, I had another problem; a confusing choice between different movies. Woodstock Villa seemed a good choice because I like the genre the film fits in; fast paced 'James Headly Chase' novels kind of murder mystery thrillers. I like the kind of characters you find in such movies, smart, cunning, scheming, deceitful. The women are beautiful in such stories but not your ideal Indian or just ideal women for that matter.
It's quite like a game of chess, each party trying to outwit the other and only in the end do you get to know how it all turned out. Well, 'Woodstock Villa' does indeed deliver on all the promises it had made; not perfect but fantastic. The much talked about Kher has great screen presence that brings back the mythical Marlboro man in an age that had begun to serenade the metrosexual. The surprise package Sanjay Dutt is also fantastic and the chic Neha Uberoi, well, she's stunning throughout!
Back to what I was talking about, frankly I am so so tired of seeing the kind of men who are helping with baby sitting, cooking, doing other chores around the house and who cry more than the ladies do on the screen! If you feel the same way, then relax, I will say it again, this is not that kind of a movie. Just like {'Johnny Gaddar' which I liked quite a lot} this movie is a complete paisa vasool :)
Enough praises, {music is also awesome by the way} I haven't said anything about the plot just because I don't want to spoil it for anybody, Woodstock Villa's a worthwhile watch and if you are feeling like catching a movie, go watch this one!!
Want More?
Well, here's the TOI review.

Reason to rejoice for Indian Bloggers

The great news is ... that there is now another blogging platform where you can get a blog for free and even put up Google Adsense on your blog. Yes, I can hear you; blogger already has this and places to get free blogs are launched a dozen a day, but there are a few crucial differences between having a blog with ?????.blogspot.com & ?????.blog.co.in:

  1. The site has a co.in domain. So, if you blog about stuff that is relevant to India or Indians, the chances of you getting more targeted readers increases greatly because of this. (Also blog.co.in is an easy suffix to remember)

  2. More importantly, blog.co.in uses the most popular open-source blogging software; WordPress Multi-User edition. Don't get me wrong, I love blogger myself (on which this blog is hosted) because of its ease of use, but the trouble with blogger is that there are severe limitations as compared to other platforms such as Wordpress or Typepad.

  3. Having said that, installing and running a blog/website on your own domain [web adress] using either Wordpress or Typepad is definitely not easy for newbies and laymen. So the nice people over at Wordpress solved that problem and starting and running your own blog [for free] at wordpress.com is a breeze now. They have tweaked the dashboards, options etc and now, it's as easy to use as blogger is 'and' 'and' it has some fantastic features which by the looks of it, blogger will never have. {the ability to have Static Pages is just one example}

  4. The only downside for having a blog at wordpress.com was that you could not profit from your writing by putting up Google Adsense Ads or other Ads through the use of HTML. Blogger has that option but then just because of this very option, there are countless spam blogs @ blogspot with garbage posted and Adsense Ads all over.

  5. And now, the guys at blog.co.in have a solution for it; you not only have a great wordpress platform to blog with free of cost, you can in fact get ads placed on your blog and earn a decent income from your writings if they are good. At the moment Blog.co.in serves ads on a 60-40 sharing basis so if your page is viewed 100 times, your ads will be shown 60 times.

I already started a blog there, I have some rough plans for it, nothing concrete but it looks good and I will be busy there indeed.

In a nutshell as mentioned on the Blog.co.in About page, here are the highlights:

  • Simple blog URL and It’s intuitive. (nikki.Blog.co.in : Everyone knows what this URL mean)
  • Specially designed for Indian bloggers. Be Indian, Blog Indian ! (sure, we will be coming up with Pongal, Diwali blog themes in the future)
  • Not only you blog for Free but also make make few bucks. (How many popular blog sites are offering that, out there? Almost none !)
  • We backup all your work every 12 hours to ensure we are always prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.
  • Our servers are equipped with sophisticated monitoring tools that automatically restart the database, email, web server etc, in case of failure. This ensures 99.999% up-time for your blogs.
  • Built on the popular and most favorited open-source blogging software WordPress Multi-User edition.

And some more sport

Everybody goes through phases where they are digging something or the other more than anything else and right now, I am very much in to sports, a thanx goes out to IPL for it. IPL made cricket fun to watch again. No, I am not your complicated test match loving types, I love the bashing and belting of IPL and one thing many people fail to see or don't want to see is that bowlers are doing a lot of wham baam as well, that's its not just batsman who are going for it every ball.
  1. Take Shane Warne for example, he surely is having the time of his life as a cricketer, bowler, captain and mentor in IPL. His Rajesthan Royal boys play like a pack of killer hunting dogs albeit they are not wild and rabid, they are "professionally aggressive", they do their talking with their bats, fielding and the bowling and just don't want to loose !! They could have let Sachins Mumbai Indians team win today in the IPL match, but the Roayals had a different idea; no mercy or loose cricket from them and now Mumbai Indians are all but out of the contention for a Semi Final place in the IPL, poor poor Saaachin ...

  2. The next thing in line on my mind is the pity and sympathy for Sutil. Our very own Vijay Mallya's Force India F1 team almost got a 4th spot finish for one of their drivers; Adrian Sutil at the Monaco circuit. But no, Ferrari and Raikkonen had to ruin it all for Sutil, Force India and Indian F1 fans, Kimi crashed in to Sutil's car on the 66th lap with only some 7 minutes to go !! That's what you call serious bad luck, Sutil may have gotten over it by now, but I can not stop feeling pity for him.
